An online notepad that keeps working offline
The short version: Mistshare is offline-first. Your notes are stored on your device, not just on a server, so the plane, the subway, and the dead spot in your building do not stop you: you keep reading and typing, and everything merges automatically the moment you are back online. No app to install, no account, free.
Offline-first, not offline-sorry
Most web editors treat a lost connection as an error: the spinner appears, the doc locks, your last edits hang in doubt. Mistshare is built the other way around. The copy you edit is the local one on your device; the network's job is only to sync it. When the network disappears, nothing about writing changes.
How it works
| Notes live on your device | Every note you open is stored locally in your browser. Opening it again is instant and works with no connection. |
| The app itself loads offline | After your first visit the browser caches the app, so mistshare.com opens even when you are fully offline. No install, no install prompt. |
| Offline edits merge cleanly | Type away with no signal. When you reconnect, your changes and anyone else's are merged automatically by CRDT sync; nobody's words are lost, no "which version wins" dialog. |
| Collaboration survives bad networks | If a collaborator drops off mid-session, they keep typing and their edits arrive when they are back. Flaky hotel Wi-Fi stops being a problem. |
The one thing to know
Being honest about the boundary: offline works with what your device has already seen. A note you have never opened cannot appear out of thin air without a connection, and a first-ever visit to the site needs one too. In practice: open your notes once while online, and from then on they are yours, connection or not.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Mistshare without internet?
Yes, after a first online visit. Notes you have opened are on your device, and the app itself loads from cache.
What happens to edits I make offline?
They save locally and merge automatically when you reconnect, even if others edited the note meanwhile.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It is a normal browser page; offline support is built in, with no app and no install prompt.
Is offline support free?
Yes, like the rest of Mistshare: no account, no ads, no tracking.
